What are you doing at the weekend? As for me I'm going to dancing classes. But I'd like to stay at home - it's too cold now.

Hi there! I've been to my dancing classes yesterday, and really enjoyed it. By the way, it's not that cold here in Kiev. Maybe -8. And what's the weather in your city?

This weekend I am staying home, learning German, working out, cooking and doing shopping (not at home, of course :) ). I might meet one of my friends, but I'm not sure about it.

What kind of dancing classes do you attend? And have you learned any dance already?

Hello! I am at work now, thinking about the meeting with my friends (the painters) which would take place tomorrow.

Hi Angry Angrievych :hyhyhy:. Why are you at work on Saturday? Do you have a 6-day work-week?! Hope you don't.

And what are you going to do with your friends? To paint? :)

Let me see if I got you right... You say, that you didn't go to your classes because of cold? It sounds like you've cought cold, and now you're ill (cold is a disease when you caugh and sneeze... oh my, I'm a poet! :hyhyhy: ). Is it true? Or you didn't go to the classes because of the cold weather? I know the answer, but in this topic I'll pretend to be a dummy that doesn't speak parusski:-). So please explain for the dummy :hyhyhy:

Oh, that's so warm! So if the sun is shining brightly, you can take sun bathes, no? Wearing only bikini. ;-))

Actually, in some parts of Russia it is -56 sometimes. Then -20 is really warm :hyhyhy:

Oh, I understood. I meant the weather, of course. I've caught a cold a week ago, and I'm getting better now.
And what about your shopping? What have you bought?

It's includes: bikini +stockings 120(or more) den, warm skirt or pants, sweater, fur (don't talk about it Dogusha) coat, fur hat, scarf and varezhki.

Oh, I should say 'what did you bought?'...
Are there any mistakes with the time of the verbs?

No, I guess I should have said "I've bought". So it's my mistake. But one correction: if you ask this question in past simple, you should ask "what did you buy" (note, "buy" is used in the infinitive, not "what did you bought", which is incorrect). Actually, it is appropriate to use past simple when you mention definite time. For example: "What did you buy today?"

So when you say about catching a cold, it is better to say "I cought cold a week ago", not "I've caught cold a week ago".
But I should check up the grammar rules once again, to be sure that I'm not misleading you. I just remember that past simple (a tense when you use "did+infinitive") is for the events that happened in a definite time of the past.

"I've caught a cold a week ago" is indeed incorrect, but it is possible to say both "What did you buy today?" and "What have you bought today?". The second option is better and more preferable, because "today" is not yet over, so it is present, and not past.
The general idea is this: we use the past simple tense (I bought, did you buy?) when we name or imply a definite moment or period in the past, which is now over. This is a strict rule, if you use present perfect here, it is a mistake. On the contrary, we use the present perfect tense (I have bought) when we mean or imply a period, which is still lasting. "I bought some food in the morning" if it's now 5 p.m., but "I've bought some food in the morning" if it's now 10 a.m. This is not so strict, you can also use past simple here. Or we also use present perfect when we want to emphasize on the present result of the action and don't care when it was carried out. "I've seen this film, so now I am able to disscuss it with you".
If no context is given, we can use any of the tenses, and both will be correct. There are plenty of such situations.

To my mind, the difference between these two tenses is one of the most complicated things in English grammar. If not the most difficult one. But in fact there's nothing embarassing about it when you get the general idea: present perfect - хоть и совершённое, но всё же настоящее, past simple - прошедшее, и никаких гвоздей ;)

"There is plenty" or "there are plenty". Or both is/are correct?

I'm not sure about the word "plenty". I suppose, nothing special, "there are plenty of situations", "there is plenty of time". I had a list of such words which can change the number of the verb, but I haven't yet been able to find it. I also used to know them, but have forgotten. But I'm pretty sure that "both are" (though again not 100%).
By the way, there was an interesting rule about the difference of "which" and "that". Which I don't now remember either :hyhyhy:
Cuba, where are you going? :)

It seem to me there is nothing special about the word "plenty". I think exact verb form depends on whether you consider expression to be countable or not. Something like: "there are plenty of opportunities to do something" vs. "there is plenty of opportunity to do something". So I think here "are" is correct, while "is" would not be.
